Dr. FLAVIO CLINICAL HYPNOSIS - MENOPAUSE & MIDLIFE

THE HORMONES HAVE CHANGED. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF YOU?

It's 3:15 in the morning. Your heart is pounding. Heat is pouring off your skin. The covers are on the floor, and your mind is already racing through tomorrow.

By mid-afternoon, you're staring at an email you've rewritten three times, searching for a word you've used all your life.

That evening, something small sets off anger or tears that feel completely out of proportion. And afterward, you think: This isn't me.

You're not imagining it. And you're not alone.

YOU'VE DONE THE RIGHT THINGS

You talked to your doctor. Maybe you're on hormone therapy, and it's helping, or helping some. Maybe hormones aren't an option for you, for medical reasons or personal ones.

Either way, you've probably noticed something:

Treatment can address the biology, but it doesn't always reach everything you're living through.

See whether any of this sounds familiar:

  • You no longer trust your sleep. Even on good nights, you brace for the bad ones.
  • Your patience is thinner than it used to be, and you don't always recognize the person snapping at the people you love.
  • You feel like your body has become unpredictable, like it's no longer quite yours.
  • You're still holding everything together at work and at home, and you're exhausted from doing it while privately falling apart.
  • And underneath it all, quieter questions: Who am I now? What comes next? Where did the woman I used to be go?

If any of that landed, your provider sent you to the right place.

YOUR PROVIDER SENT YOU HERE FOR A REASON

Your provider cares about you. But most medical visits last fifteen or twenty minutes. That's enough time to review your symptoms, adjust a prescription, and check your blood pressure.

It isn't enough time to sit with everything this transition is bringing up.

That's where I come in.

I'm Dr. Flavio Souza-Campos. I hold an MD and a PhD, and I've practiced clinical hypnosis for nearly three decades, with more than 44,000 sessions. I've lectured on hypnosis for menopausal symptoms since 2017.

I don't prescribe or change your medication. I don't replace your gynecologist, nurse practitioner, or primary care provider. I work alongside them, giving you the time, the attention, and the kind of help a short medical visit can't.

WHY HYPNOSIS? THE EVIDENCE MAY SURPRISE YOU.

Many women are surprised to learn that hypnosis is one of the best-studied non-hormone approaches to hot flashes.

In a randomized controlled trial funded by the National Institutes of Health, 187 postmenopausal women received five weekly sessions of clinical hypnosis or a comparison treatment. The women who received hypnosis reported a 74% reduction in hot flash frequency, compared with 17% in the comparison group. They also slept better, and the benefit held six weeks after their final session.

The Menopause Society now recommends clinical hypnosis as an effective non-hormone option for hot flashes.

That's why your provider mentioned me.

And let me clear up the myths: Hypnosis is not sleep, is not unconsciousness. You won't lose control, and you won't do anything you don't want to do. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention. You are present and aware the entire time.

I'll also be honest with you. Hypnosis is not for everyone, and the strongest research is for hot flashes and the sleep problems that come with them. For irritability, stress, and the emotional side of this transition, hypnosis offers a different way to work, always alongside, never instead of, the care you're already receiving.

I'M READY TO START

MORE THAN HOT FLASHES

Menopause doesn't arrive in a quiet moment. It arrives in the middle of your life, often while you're managing a career, a marriage, teenagers or an empty house, and aging parents, all at once.

Many women tell me they feel invisible. They're still showing up for everyone, but no one is asking how they're doing. And when they try to explain, the words don't quite come out right.

Our sessions are a place to talk about all of it.

The body that feels unfamiliar, the confidence that's slipped, the grief that can come with a closing chapter, and the possibility in the one that's opening.

You don't have to explain yourself in fifteen minutes. And you don't have to hold it all together here.

HOW WE BEGIN: DISCOVERY

You don't need to commit to months of sessions to find out whether this is right for you.

We start with Discovery: two private 50-minute sessions for $300.

Session 1: Understanding Your Experience
We meet privately online. We talk about what you're living with: when the hot flashes come, how you're sleeping, how you're feeling, and what's happening in the rest of your life. Then you experience hypnosis, and we begin the work.

Session 2: Building on What Changed
We meet again within 72 hours. Hypnosis often sets small shifts in motion: a calmer night, a less intense flash, a new sense of steadiness. We look at how you responded and continue the work.

At the end of Discovery, I'll tell you honestly what I recommend.

WHAT COMES AFTER

In the research, the benefits came from several weeks of focused work. Discovery is how we find out, in just two sessions, whether hypnosis works for you and whether we're the right fit.

If it is, we continue with the Intensive: a focused period of frequent sessions, followed by Integration, where we taper off so the changes hold in your everyday life. The full process, including fees, is explained on my process page, so there are no surprises.

If it isn't the right fit, you'll know quickly, and there's no obligation to continue.

WHERE WE MEET

Your first session takes place online, over secure video, so we can begin quickly, wherever you are. No traffic, no waiting rooms, no fluorescent lights when you're already exhausted.

After that, we'll decide together where we meet: in person at offices in South and Central Florida, or online, depending on where you live, your schedule, and what the work requires.

QUESTIONS WOMEN OFTEN ASK

Do I need to stop hormone therapy?

No. Hypnosis works alongside your current treatment. Please don't change any medication without talking to the provider who prescribed it.

What if hormones aren't an option for me?

That's one of the main reasons women explore hypnosis. It is a recommended non-hormone option for hot flashes.

Will you communicate with my provider?

With your written permission, I'm glad to keep your provider informed about our work together.

Do I need a referral?

No. Many women come because their provider suggested it, but you're welcome to book on your own.

Will this work for me?

I can't promise that. Hypnosis helps many women, but not everyone. That's exactly why we start with Discovery: you find out in two sessions, not ten.

THIS CHAPTER DOESN'T HAVE TO FEEL LIKE THIS

You've spent years taking care of everyone else.

Your provider has done their part. Now it's time to take care of the rest of you.
